Internet Services Restored in Islamabad and Rawalpindi
ISLAMABAD: Internet services have been fully restored in Islamabad and Rawalpindi after an outage disrupted connectivity in several areas of the twin cities, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said on Sunday.
Optical Fibre Fault Caused Disruption
According to the PTA, the disruption was caused by a fault in the optical fibre network of a telecom operator.
The fault affected services in several local and surrounding areas, resulting in partial disruption to the networks of some service providers.
PTA Technical Teams Worked on Restoration
The telecom regulator said its technical teams were deployed to repair the damaged optical fibre cable and restore internet connectivity.
The PTA had earlier warned that the restoration process could take several hours as teams worked to identify and fix the fault.
Services Fully Restored
Following the repair of the optical fibre fault, the PTA confirmed that internet services have now been fully restored in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The outage had caused difficulties for residents and users who rely on internet services for work, education and other daily activities.
Other Regions Mostly Unaffected
The PTA said internet services in the central and southern parts of the country remained normal, although some areas in the northern region were also affected by the disruption.
The regulator said the outage was limited to specific local and surrounding areas rather than being a nationwide disruption.
