PNS/M Hangor Conducts Maiden Live Weapon Firing
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy’s newly inducted submarine PNS/M Hangor has successfully conducted its maiden live weapon firing in the North Arabian Sea, accurately striking a designated long-range target with an anti-ship cruise missile, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Naval Chief Witnesses Missile Firing
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf witnessed the firing and praised the submarine’s operational and combat capabilities.
According to ISPR, the naval chief also highlighted the strategic importance of strengthening Pakistan Navy’s subsurface capabilities to maintain maritime deterrence.
The successful firing is being described by the military as an important milestone in efforts to maintain a modern and combat-ready naval force capable of protecting Pakistan’s maritime frontiers.
PM Shehbaz Congratulates Pakistan Navy
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Pakistan Navy and its leadership on the successful maiden live weapon firing.
The prime minister said the accurate engagement of the long-range target demonstrated the operational readiness, professionalism and combat capabilities of the Navy’s submarine force.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining the armed forces’ preparedness to respond to national security challenges.
Shehbaz also commended Admiral Naveed Ashraf and the personnel involved in the induction and operationalisation of PNS/M Hangor.
President Zardari Hails Naval Achievement
President Asif Ali Zardari also congratulated the Pakistan Navy on the successful firing.
He praised the Navy’s operational preparedness and enhanced maritime defence capabilities, saying a modern and combat-capable naval force plays an important role in protecting Pakistan’s maritime frontiers.
Zardari also commended Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Navy personnel involved in strengthening the country’s maritime defence capabilities.
