Angry Iranian mobs reportedly set fire to the homes of Afghan immigrants in response to the stabbing death of an Iranian citizen during a fight, as per Iranian media accounts.
The violent protests targeted Afghan immigrants following reports in local media that alleged Afghan individuals had stabbed two Iranian youths on November 30 in Meybod city of Yazd province.
According to local sources, Mohammad Ali Aghaei, one of the Iranian youths, succumbed to a knife wound, while the other sustained injuries.
Yazd’s Police Commander Abbas Ali Behdani Fard claimed on December 1 that the suspected perpetrator in the killing had been apprehended after a confrontation between the suspects and victims.
Following Friday prayers, residents of Meybod city reportedly staged a protest against the youth’s killing, demanding the arrest of the suspect, according to Deputy Governor Ali Akbar Azizi.
Subsequently, social media circulated videos allegedly depicting the burning of houses belonging to Afghan immigrants by enraged mobs, fueled by reports that the murder suspect was of Afghan origin.
Commentators on platform X asserted that Afghan refugees were purportedly subjected to beatings during attacks on their settlements, with calls for the expulsion of Afghan refugees.
Sky Turns Red, Images Go Viral On Social Media
Meanwhile, imagine the night sky suddenly turning a deep red color. This is what happened when a rare event called a blood-red aurora lit up the sky.
Auroras are usually green or blue, but this one was red because it was caused by a strong solar storm. This rare solar scenario was observed on Mongolia and the images hit the social media because it was a rare scene.
The solar storm sent charged particles hurtling toward Earth, and when they hit the atmosphere, they made the oxygen molecules glow red.
In Mongolia, this only happens at high altitudes, where there is less oxygen. Red auroras are very rare, and they have only been seen a few times in history.
