Iran’s inclusion in BRICS
Vahid Jalalzadeh, the chairman of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, welcomed Iran’s inclusion in BRICS. He termed it as a decisive blow to U.S. sanctions.
Jalalzadeh affirmed that Iran’s BRICS membership dealt a serious blow to unilateral U.S. sanctions. It also indicated a significant shift in global dynamics, according to the Tehran Times.

Jalalzadeh stated, “The reinforcement and expansion of the resistance front against the hegemonic order, the decline of American influence, and the transfer of knowledge and wealth from the West to the East are key aspects of the emerging global paradigm.”
Jalalzadeh emphasized the BRICS united stance against the hegemonic system, particularly the United States. He argued that BRICS, Shanghai, and Eurasia serve as symbols representing the failure of Western sanctions.
He asserted, “In the era of reshaping the global landscape, nullifying sanctions translates into a phase of entering alliances. This heralds the end of unilateralism.”
Hossein Qaribi, the Iranian Ambassador to Brazil, echoed the sentiment of achievement surrounding Iran’s BRICS membership. He disclosed that this achievement was the fruit of diplomatic endeavors by the Ebrahim Raisi administration.
Qaribi underlined the value of strengthening multilateralism within the international system through the BRICS platform.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian commended the bloc’s decision to expand its membership. He said, “Including Iran into BRICS lays the foundation for pursuing objectives and other strategies of the government.”
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the expansion of the BRICS bloc. He welcomed Iran, Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia as full-fledged members of the BRICS. Consequently, the BRICS comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa will double in size soon.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi also attended the BRICS summit in South Africa. He appreciated the group’s decision to add more members.
