Jamima looks happy after the Supreme Court declares the arrest of Imran Khan illegal
ISLAMABAD: Jamima Goldsmith, the first and former wife of PTI chairman Imran Khan was glad to see the Supreme Court’s decision in favor of Imran Khan on Thursday afternoon.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court declared illegal the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court premises on Tuesday. Khan was taken away by dozens of Rangers personnel from the yard of IHC when he reached there to appear in court cases.
The three-member bench headed by chief justice Umar Ata Bandia and comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar announced the verdict, terming illegal Khan’s arrest from the court’s jurisdiction.
Jamima said, “Finally sense has prevailed.”
She also attached the Pakistani flag and an emoji in her tweet to show her pleasure and joy over the court order to release Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
Imran Khan and his third wife Bushra Bibi and other PTI leaders are facing a NAB case involving a settlement between the PTI government and a property tycoon (Malik Riaz of Bahria Town) which caused a loss of 190 million pounds to the national exchequer.
According to the NAB case, Imran Khan and other accused adjusted Rs50 billion — 190 million pounds at the time — sent by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Pakistan government.
Khan, Bushra Bibi, and others were accused of getting undue benefit in the form of over 458 kanals of land at Mouza Bakrala, Sohawa, to establish Al Qadir University.
