Film producer Jemima Goldsmith has issued a heartfelt call to support the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) appeal for the children of Gaza. The death toll resulting from Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip reached a devastating count of at least 2,670 on Sunday.

Jemima conveyed her plea through a post on her social media platform, X. In her message, she shared the words of UNICEF spokesperson James Elder.

Jemima expressed her solidarity with the innocent individuals on both sides of the border who are enduring the brunt of the ongoing tensions between Israel and Palestine.

She emphasized the harrowing toll on children, stating, “Countless children have suffered injuries and lost their lives. The number of children being tragically lost in Gaza continues to rise with each passing hour.” She fervently called for an immediate end to the loss of young lives.

“The distressing imagery and stories are undeniable: children bearing horrific burns, wounds from mortar attacks, and the painful loss of limbs. The overwhelmed hospitals are struggling to provide adequate care. Despite the challenges, the number of affected children continues to grow. Israeli children held in Gaza must be reunited promptly and safely with their families and loved ones.”

Notably, Israel has restricted access to essential resources such as water, food, and electricity in Gaza. However, it was reported on Sunday that water services had resumed in the southern regions of the Palestinian enclave.

Earlier in the week, UNICEF issued a dire warning, stressing that time was running out for the children of Gaza. James Elder, the UNICEF spokesperson, sadly acknowledged, “In every conflict, it is the children who bear the heaviest burden, and regrettably, this remains profoundly true today.”
