Manchester United 4-2 Brighton: Mbeumo Double Secures Third Straight Win

Manchester United extended their winning streak to three matches with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford. The result lifted United into the Premier League’s top four and showcased both their attacking power and defensive vulnerabilities under manager Rúben Amorim.

United started strongly, controlling possession and dictating the tempo. Matheus Cunha broke the deadlock in the 24th minute with a composed finish from close range — his first goal for the club. Just ten minutes later, Casemiro’s deflected strike doubled the lead, giving the home side a comfortable advantage heading into half-time.

The pressure continued after the break as Bryan Mbeumo added a third goal in the 61st minute, capitalizing on a precise through-ball to finish calmly past the goalkeeper. However, Brighton refused to surrender. Former United striker Danny Welbeck curled in a brilliant free-kick to pull one back in the 74th minute, sparking late tension inside Old Trafford.

Brighton’s Charalampos Kostoulas then made it 3-2 with a close-range header in stoppage time, setting up a dramatic finale. But Mbeumo ensured there would be no comeback, firing home his second goal deep into injury time to seal a deserved 4-2 win for the Red Devils.

The victory confirmed United’s growing momentum but also exposed lapses in concentration that nearly cost them. For Brighton, the spirited fightback showed resilience but defensive errors proved decisive. United now look ahead to their next fixture with renewed confidence and a belief that their attacking rhythm is finally clicking into place.
