In a significant move aimed at improving convenience for millions of Pakistanis, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has officially begun offering its key identity services at local Union Councils. This initiative, currently launched in selected areas, is part of NADRA’s broader strategy to decentralize public service delivery and reduce citizen dependency on crowded NADRA offices.
Now, people can access services like new CNIC issuance, renewals, child registration (B-Forms), family certificates, marital status updates, and ID card cancellations directly from their local government offices.
Pilot Program Begins in Islamabad, Chakwal, and Gujrat
The rollout has initially started in the following Union Council areas:
- Islamabad: Saidpur, Sihala, Model Town, Koral, I-10/4
- Chakwal: Mureed
- Gujrat: Daulat Nagar
These locations were selected based on population density, accessibility, and demand. NADRA plans to expand the service nationwide once the pilot phase proves successful.
Relief for Citizens Facing Long Queues at NADRA Centers
For years, NADRA centers have struggled with overcrowding and long wait times, particularly in urban areas. With services now available at Union Councils, people can avoid the hassle of standing in line and access identity services closer to home.

Residents have already started reporting shorter processing times, better staff interaction, and overall improved experience at these decentralized locations.
Karachi Sees Expansion of NADRA Biker Service
Meanwhile, Karachi residents have also received a major upgrade. NADRA has expanded its popular biker service—used for delivering CNICs and handling renewals—from 3 to 8 operating units. This service now covers all districts of Karachi, ensuring wider and faster home-based service delivery.
According to Director General Amir Ali Khan, the expanded fleet of mobile bikers will significantly ease the burden on physical centers and help Karachi residents complete CNIC renewals and related services from their doorstep.
Pak ID App Gets a Boost with Software Updates
In a parallel digital push, NADRA has enhanced the functionality of its Pak ID mobile application, designed to allow users to apply for and renew CNICs online. DG Amir Ali Khan stated that all technical glitches in the app have been fixed, and a new software update has made the process smoother and more user-friendly.
To raise awareness, NADRA launched a roadshow in Karachi, promoting the Pak ID app in universities, schools, and shopping malls. The aim is to educate citizens, especially youth and working professionals, about the benefits of completing identity processes digitally.
Benefits of NADRA’s New Service Model
The recent changes reflect NADRA’s shift toward citizen-centric digital governance. Key benefits of the new model include:
- Reduced travel time for rural and suburban populations
- Lower operational load on central NADRA offices
- Faster processing and delivery of identity documents
- Increased digital awareness through mobile app promotion
- Better coverage in urban centers, particularly Karachi
Future Outlook: National Rollout Expected
Following the pilot’s success in Islamabad, Chakwal, and Gujrat, NADRA is expected to scale up this initiative across other provinces, including Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.
Government sources indicate that this move aligns with broader e-governance reforms, aiming to decentralize citizen services and utilize technology for greater efficiency.
