Islamabad Airport Becomes Pakistan’s First with Indoor 5G

The installation of an indoor 5G solution at Islamabad International Airport has officially commenced, marking the first comprehensive indoor 5G facility at any airport in Pakistan.

Project Launch and Investment

A kick-off ceremony for the project was held under the supervision of the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) , which said the initiative would enhance digital connectivity and improve passenger experience at the airport.

The project involves Chinese investment of $5 million and, upon completion, is expected to generate a monthly revenue of Rs600,000 for the Pakistan Airports Authority.

Passenger Benefits and Connectivity

The indoor 5G solution will provide passengers with high-speed internet services within the terminal, ensuring faster and more reliable connectivity during their time at the airport. This marks a significant upgrade in digital infrastructure for the country’s premier international gateway.

Significance for Pakistan’s Digital Infrastructure

The development positions Islamabad International Airport as a pioneer in modern connectivity among Pakistani airports. The initiative aligns with Pakistan’s broader push toward digital transformation and enhanced passenger services at key transportation hubs.

The project also underscores growing cooperation between Pakistan and China in the technology sector, building on broader bilateral ties in infrastructure development.
