The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially confirmed the schedule for Australia’s upcoming T20I tour of Pakistan, with three matches set to be played later this month at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium.

The short but high-profile series will run from 29 January to 1 February, providing valuable preparation time for both teams ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Pakistan will compete in Group A at the global event, while Australia have been placed in Group B.

Australia’s T20I squad is scheduled to arrive in Lahore on Wednesday, 28 January, one day before the opening match. All three fixtures will be played under lights, with the coin toss taking place at 5.30pm PKT and the first ball bowled at 6pm PKT.

The tour continues Australia’s growing familiarity with touring Pakistan in recent years. Since March–April 2022, Australia have visited the country three times, beginning with a historic Test series followed by ODIs and a one-off T20I. They also played three matches of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan, further strengthening cricketing ties between the two nations.

Australia’s only previous T20I appearance at the Gaddafi Stadium came on 5 April 2022, when they edged Pakistan by three wickets in a closely contested encounter. That match remains a reference point as the two sides prepare to renew their rivalry in Lahore.

The PCB believes the upcoming series will kick off the year in style for local fans, with senior officials confident the matches will draw strong crowds.

PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed Syed expressed enthusiasm about hosting the Australians once again, highlighting the significance of the series for both teams.

“We are excited and look forward to hosting Australia for the three-match T20I series here in Lahore,” Syed said. “The tour marks a blockbuster beginning of the year for Pakistan cricket fans, and I urge them to turn out in numbers to support both teams as they put the final touches to their T20 World Cup preparations.

“I’m sure the Gaddafi Stadium has become a familiar sight for the Australian cricket team, as they have played a Test, five ODIs and a T20I here since March 2022.”

With two top T20I sides sharpening their combinations and strategies, the series promises competitive cricket and high entertainment value. For Pakistan, it’s a chance to test depth and form at home, while Australia will look to fine-tune their squad in subcontinent conditions.
