PM and Moroccan Ambassador Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Islamabad, Jan 28: Ambassador of Morocco, Mohamed Karmoune, paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House on Monday, where they discussed matters of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s deep gratitude to the King of Morocco, His Majesty King Muhammad VI, and the Moroccan government for their support in rescuing stranded Pakistanis following the tragic boat capsizing incident off the coast of Dakhla. He particularly appreciated the assistance provided by local Moroccan authorities, who collaborated with Pakistani officials in the repatriation of survivors and the return of the remains of those who lost their lives.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the strong historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Morocco, underscoring the importance of enhancing trade and investment cooperation between the two nations. He highlighted the goodwill and deep affection that exist between the peoples of the two countries, calling for further strengthening of people-to-people contacts.

In response, Ambassador Karmoune reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to deepening its cooperation with Pakistan across all areas of shared interest. He assured the Prime Minister that Morocco would continue to work closely with Pakistan to explore new opportunities for mutually beneficial collaboration. The two sides are also working towards convening meetings of institutional consultative mechanisms, including the Bilateral Political Consultations, in the near future.
