Trump had on Sunday expressed satisfaction over the signing of the agreement, saying the pact showed that countries in the Middle East were coming together to strengthen their ability to defend themselves .

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye signed the agreement in Makkah on August 7 . The pact provides for collective deterrence, with an attack against one signatory to be treated as an attack against all three. The agreement comes amid heightened regional tensions and has been described by Pakistani officials as defensive in nature rather than an arrangement aimed at aggression against any state .

Turkish officials have said the pact will establish political and military mechanisms among the three countries and deepen cooperation in the defence industry. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has also indicated that the framework could eventually expand to include other countries in the region. Several regional countries have welcomed the agreement, while Iran has signalled support for regional security mechanisms based on cooperation .
