LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Punjab government suspended sentence of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia case.
Nawaz Sharif requested the Punjab’s caretaker government to suspend his sentence in the wake of the Islamabad High Court verdict in the Al-Azizia case.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif is set to present himself before the Islamabad High Court today, having secured protective bail. Nawaz returned to the country on Saturday after four years in exile, with the protective bail granted by the high court due to expire today.
During this appearance, he will also participate in a hearing to seek the restoration of his appeals in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases. The petition will be heard by Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb.
Subsequently, Nawaz will make an appearance at the Accountability Court, presided over by Judge Muhammad Bashir, concerning the Toshakhana case.
Judge Bashir had previously agreed to suspend the perpetual warrants issued for Nawaz, allowing him to attend the court in person, with the condition that these warrants would be reinstated if Nawaz failed to appear.
