Islamabad, June 4, 2025: A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not likely expected in the near future, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.
Speaking on Tuesday, Peskov stated that although President Putin is open to engage in top-level discussions, such a summit would only make sense once groundwork has been completed and key matters are settled through technical-level discussions.
Russian and Ukrainian representatives held a round of direct talks in Istanbul on Monday, during which both sides agreed on a significant prisoner exchange. They also addressed humanitarian matters and reviewed draft proposals aimed at resolving the war in Ukraine.

Speaking to the media, Peskov cautioned against expecting fast breakthroughs. He noted that while some progress was made during the Istanbul meeting, any final outcome would require further dialogue.
“We did see some important agreements take shape,” he said, “and now we’re waiting to see how Kyiv responds to the written peace outline we presented.”

He emphasized that any talks over potential adjustments to those proposals must be handled directly between Moscow and Kyiv. Peskov also made it clear that the details of the draft proposals would remain confidential at this stage.
