Islamabad, Nov 7; Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah has released Rs 232.1 million for conducting the Medical and Dental College Entrance Test (MDCAT) in Sukkur afresh.
As a result of a recent paper leak the credibility of the exam was recently compromised.
The Chief Minister called for transparency in all examinations but more so in the MDCAT.
Since the academic year 2017-18 MDCAT has been conducted every year in cities including Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur. Because of leakage, the matter reached the High Court.
IBA Karachi had to pull out from conducting this test IBA Karachi had stepped down from conducting this test. IBA Sukkur will now even conduct the entire examination.
During a Sindh Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted that a paper leak not only tarnishes reputations but jeopardizes students’ futures. “I want transparency in all exams, including MDCAT,” he asserted.
The test will happen in 6 weeks. Now the secretary of the IBA Sukkur has written the health secretary with a seven-point plan.
This includes, for instance, appointment of two focal persons, one from the PMDC and one from the health department.
The Sindh High Court allowed four weeks for MDCAT to be conducted by IBA Karachi and Sukkur IBA.
Since, IBA Karachi declined to conduct the test, it shall now be administered by the Siba Testing Service (STS).
Now, health or University departments have not written anything for seven days.
STS has suggested that the candidates should be charged Rs 6,000 per head which is payable fifteen days prior to the test.
They also ask for permission for its conduct of MDCAT for the whole province and that includes Karachi.
