Sarwat Gilani Refuses Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 3 Over Respect

Pakistani actress Sarwat Gilani has announced she will not participate in the third installment of the blockbuster comedy franchise “Jawani Phir Nahi Ani,” prioritizing her self-respect after disappointing experiences during the sequel’s production.

Behind the Decision

Gilani, who portrayed the beloved character Gul in the 2015 original film, revealed that her enthusiasm diminished following the release of the second installment. In a candid interview, the actress disclosed that numerous scenes featuring her performance were excluded from promotional materials for “Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2,” despite prior commitments from the production team.

The actress expressed particular frustration over being kept uninformed about the film’s promotional event in London. She independently purchased her own ticket to attend, only to discover minimal representation in marketing content—an experience she described as disrespectful treatment.

Standing Firm on Principles

“I will never compromise on my self-respect,” Gilani stated, characterizing the handling of her involvement as unprofessional behavior. Despite her decision to withdraw from the franchise, she emphasized maintaining respect for industry veterans Humayun Saeed and Nadeem Baig, clarifying that her grievance concerns production management rather than fellow cast members.

Franchise Legacy

The original 2015 film assembled an ensemble cast including Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mehwish Hayat, Ahmad Ali Butt, Vasay Chaudhry, and Sohai Ali Abro, becoming one of Pakistan’s highest-grossing comedies. The sequel expanded the lineup with Fahad Mustafa and Mawra Hocane.

Gilani’s departure marks a significant change for the franchise as it prepares for its third chapter, highlighting ongoing conversations about professional treatment and representation within Pakistan’s film industry.
