Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor has announced plans to showcase its innovative “Robot Phone” at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona this March, featuring an industry-first pop-up camera system with integrated gimbal technology.
Groundbreaking Camera Technology
The device represents a significant milestone for the former Huawei subsidiary, incorporating advanced AI-powered subject tracking capabilities. A promotional video released from Honor’s Shenzhen headquarters demonstrates the camera module’s ability to autonomously follow moving subjects, marking a first for the company’s product lineup.
While technical specifications remain under wraps until the official MWC reveal, Honor confirmed that additional artificial intelligence features will be integrated throughout the device’s functionality.

Under CEO James Li Jian’s leadership since January 2025, Honor is executing an ambitious five-year, $10 billion investment strategy aimed at evolving beyond traditional smartphone manufacturing into a comprehensive AI ecosystem brand. Originally established as a Huawei sub-brand in 2013, Honor became an independent entity in 2020 following its acquisition by Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology Co., Ltd. The company has since expanded its portfolio to include AI-powered tablets, wearables, and smartphones.
