Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued an important warning to the public regarding ongoing thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, which are expected to persist across most regions of the Kingdom until Monday. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions as weather conditions could lead to hazardous situations, including flash floods, hail, and strong winds.

Forecast and Impact

According to reports from the Saudi Press Agency, moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated in several key regions, including Makkah and Riyadh. These areas are particularly at risk for flash floods due to the intensity of the rainfall. Additionally, the storms are expected to bring hail and strong downdrafts that could further exacerbate the danger.

Other regions like Madinah, Asir, Hail, and Qassim will also experience moderate to heavy rain, increasing the likelihood of flooding and creating challenging travel conditions. The Eastern Province is expected to see moderate rainfall, while areas in the western and southern parts of the Kingdom, including Tabuk, Baha, Jazan, and Najran, will experience lighter, yet still significant, showers.

Public Safety Recommendations

The Civil Defense is urging the public to stay indoors, avoid valleys and flood-prone areas, and refrain from swimming in such locations, especially in regions where flash floods are likely. Given the unpredictable nature of the storms, residents should stay vigilant and monitor weather updates through official channels and social media platforms for the latest developments.
