The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that it will remain closed for public dealing on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in observance of the first day of the new fiscal year 2025–26. The day will be treated as a bank holiday, a customary practice to allow financial institutions to close their books for the previous fiscal year and transition into the new one.
All Banks to Remain Closed for Public Dealing
In accordance with SBP’s directive, all commercial banks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) across the country will also be closed for public dealing on the same day. The notification applies nationwide and affects all branches involved in customer-facing services.
The SBP clarified in its statement:
“All banks / DFIs / MFBs shall, therefore, remain closed for public dealing on the aforementioned date. However, employees of the banks / DFIs / MFBs will attend the office as usual.”
Employees to Report for Duty
Although public dealing will be suspended, bank employees will still be required to attend office as per regular working hours. This internal working day allows institutions to finalize financial statements, reconcile accounts, and ensure operational readiness for the new fiscal year.
