Senate IT Committee to Meet on January 2 to Discuss Internet and VPN Issues

Islamabad, Dec 31: The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Information Technology, Syed Aminul Haque, has called a meeting for January 2, 2025, to discuss critical issues related to internet services and the registration of virtual private networks (VPNs) in Pakistan. The meeting will feature briefings from the Secretary of IT and the Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

One of the key topics on the agenda is the Digital Pakistan Bill, which faced concerns from committee members during the previous session. The committee will also review PTA’s issuance of long-distance international licenses and assess the performance of the IT Ministry and associated institutions. This meeting is expected to address key policy decisions affecting the digital landscape in Pakistan.
