Adam Scott Reveals His “Toxic Trait” That Annoys His Wife

Adam Scott, best known for his roles in Parks and Recreation and Severance, recently opened up about a surprisingly wholesome “toxic trait” that seems to be testing the patience of his wife, Naomi Scott.

During an appearance on the red carpet of Severance‘s For Your Consideration event, Scott was asked a light-hearted question about what habit of his most annoys his partner. While many might scramble to come up with something minor, Scott didn’t hesitate to admit that his overzealous approach to laundry might be pushing some buttons at home.

“I’m sure I have a bunch,” he joked, before diving into the quirky habit. “You know, something that is a habit of mine — and I don’t know if it’s toxic or not — my wife has started losing patience with me… I love doing laundry.”

Laundry Obsession: A Late-Night Hobby

Far from a chore, laundry has become something of a therapeutic ritual for the Emmy-nominated actor.

“I’ll do it at all times of the day,” Scott confessed. “Like if I can’t get to sleep, I’ll look for laundry to do and I’ll do it. I love putting it in and measuring the soap and waiting and then putting it in.”

What started as a simple household task has apparently turned into a genuine obsession, one that his family doesn’t quite share the same enthusiasm for.

“It’s not something I’ve always loved,” he added. “I kind of discovered, in turning into a grown-up, that I love the process of doing laundry. [My family] find it annoying, honestly.”

Adam and Naomi: A Low-Key Hollywood Couple

Adam Scott and his wife Naomi Scott (a producer, not to be confused with the actress of the same name) have kept their relationship mostly out of the spotlight. The two have been married since 2005 and share two children together — son Graham and daughter Frankie.

Despite his busy acting schedule and rising profile thanks to Severance, Scott often credits his wife and family as his grounding force. While Naomi may not be as thrilled by the midnight washing machine spins, the couple’s long-standing marriage shows they know how to laugh off each other’s quirks.

Fans React with Amusement

Fans quickly responded to Scott’s candid moment with amusement and admiration, calling his so-called “toxic trait” more “adorable” than annoying.

“Adam Scott being obsessed with laundry is the most Adam Scott thing ever,” one fan tweeted.

“If loving laundry is toxic, then sign me up,” joked another.

Many also noted how rare it is to hear celebrities speak openly — and so humorously — about the mundane realities of family life.

From Ben Wyatt to Severance Star

Adam Scott has long charmed audiences with his relatable, deadpan humor — whether as Ben Wyatt in Parks and Recreation, or the far more complex Mark Scout in Severance, which has earned him critical acclaim.

The red carpet event marked a push for Severance‘s awards campaign, but Scott’s down-to-earth responses — even when discussing something as simple as laundry — reminded fans why he remains one of Hollywood’s most endearing talents.
