Domki finalized
QUETTA/ISLAMABAD: A parliamentary panel of the Balochistan finalized Ali Mardan Domki as the caretaker chief minister for Balochistan.
Governor Balochistan Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar has approved a summary in this regard.
Hailing from the Lahri area of Balochistan, Domki is the son of former senator Mir Hazor Bakhsh Domki. He held the senatorial position from 1975 to 1977.
The resolution regarding the interim chief minister was reached during the parliamentary committee’s second session on Friday.
The deadlock between the outgoing provincial government and the opposition of the dissolved Balochistan Assembly had persisted over the selection of a candidate.
The initial meeting of the parliamentary committee, formed by Speaker Balochistan Assembly Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali to appoint a caretaker chief minister, concluded without a decision on Thursday night.
The panel assembled for the caretaker chief minister’s selection included Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Sardar Abdul Rahman Khetran, Engineer Zamrak Khan Achakzai, Muhammad Nawaz Kakar, Abdul Wahid Siddiqui, and Younis Zehri.
Sources indicated that Achakzai, Zehri, Siddiqui, and Kakar participated in the parliamentary committee’s Thursday night meeting but failed to achieve a consensus.
The committee deliberated on the potential candidates for caretaker chief minister, including Ali Hasan Zehri, Naseer Ahmed Bizenjo, Ali Mardan Domki, and Usman Badini. However, during their subsequent round of discussions, they reached an agreement on Domki’s candidacy.
PM Kakar holds maiden meeting with his cabinet
Meanwhile, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar is holding the inaugural meeting of the newly-established cabinet today.
The Prime Minister’s Secretariat will host the meeting around 11 am. The meeting will encompass a comprehensive review of the nation’s economic and law enforcement status.
In the maiden meeting, the caretaker PM Kakar will discuss the important issues and challenges for the caretaker set up.
On Thursday evening, about 25 members of the caretaker cabinet took oath.
