In a strong and clear message delivered during a session with vice-chancellors, principals, and senior educators, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir declared that Pakistan will never accept Indian hegemony, particularly in matters concerning water and Kashmir. His remarks come in the wake of renewed hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, sparked by the recent Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which resulted in the deaths of 26 Indian tourists.

Pakistan’s Right to Water is Non-Negotiable

COAS Munir categorically stated that access to water is a fundamental right of Pakistan’s 240 million citizens, emphasizing that it is a “red line” no one would be allowed to cross. This statement was made in response to India’s recent threat to block Pakistan’s water supply following the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, a crucial water-sharing agreement between the two countries.

“The right to water is vital for Pakistan’s survival, and no compromise will be made on this issue,” Munir emphasized.

Strong Retaliation to Indian Provocations

Following India’s allegations and unprovoked attacks, Pakistan launched a large-scale military operation named Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos. According to Pakistani military sources, this retaliatory campaign resulted in the destruction of six Indian fighter jets, including three advanced Rafale jets, and the downing of dozens of surveillance drones.

The hostilities lasted over 87 hours, with both countries reportedly firing missiles across the border. A ceasefire was eventually announced on May 10, facilitated by U.S. President Donald Trump, ending what could have escalated into a full-scale war.

Kashmir Is a Global Issue, Not a Forgotten One

Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed that Pakistan will never abandon the cause of Kashmir, stating that the issue remains alive both locally and globally. He stressed that no amount of Indian military aggression or political maneuvering will change the international nature of the Kashmir dispute.

He also denounced India’s claims blaming Pakistan for terrorism, calling them baseless and politically motivated. Munir insisted that the real issue lies within India’s own borders, particularly due to growing oppression of minorities, especially Muslims.

India’s Role in Destabilizing Balochistan

The army chief did not hold back in accusing India of sponsoring terrorist activities in Balochistan, clarifying that such elements have no legitimate ties to the Baloch population. “These terrorists are mercenaries serving Indian interests, not representatives of the Baloch people,” he stated.

Educators as Nation-Builders

In his meeting with academia, Munir highlighted the critical role of educators in shaping the future of Pakistan. He called them the country’s “biggest asset” and credited his own success to his parents and teachers.

“You bear the responsibility to build the character of future generations,” he said. “You must pass on Pakistan’s true story, its sacrifices, and its resilience to the youth.”

Call for Strong, Law-Based Institutions

Field Marshal Munir emphasized the need for strong institutions governed by law and the Constitution, devoid of political interference or personal agendas. He underscored the importance of working for the collective good of the nation.

He further remarked that unity is Pakistan’s greatest strength. Referring to the recent standoff as “Marka-e-Haq,” or the battle for truth, he said that a united nation is like an iron wall—unshakable and unbeatable.

Public and Academic Support for the Armed Forces

During a Q&A session, the attending educators expressed strong support for the armed forces, declaring their pride in Pakistan’s military. One participant remarked, “This safe homeland is secured by the uniform,” while another added, “We will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with our defenders.”
