ISLAMABAD – The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) announced the results of the Central Superior Services (CSS) Examination 2025 on April 30, with only 355 candidates clearing the written stage out of 12,792 who appeared, reflecting a pass rate of just 2.67% .
According to the FPSC, the commission recommended 170 candidates for appointment across various occupational groups. This group includes 84 male and 86 female candidates, showing a relatively balanced gender representation among successful qualifiers .
Asad Rafiq secured first position on the overall merit list, followed by Muhammad Mohsin Khalid in second place and Tariq Hafeez in third .
The top 30 position holders have been allocated to key service groups, including the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) and the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP). Notably, none of the top 30 candidates were allocated to the Foreign Service of Pakistan this year .
In terms of provincial representation among the top 30, Punjab dominated with 23 candidates, while Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa secured two candidates each. Balochistan was represented by three candidates in the top tier .
The results were announced after a delay. The FPSC had earlier stated that the final outcome would be released in April 2026 pending decisions on vacancies following the start of the 54th Common Training Programme at the Civil Services Academy in Lahore .
The CSS examination is considered one of the most competitive recruitment processes for Pakistan’s civil services, with consistently low success rates reflecting the extremely tough screening process .
