KARACHI: A Punjab police squad, dispatched from Lahore to apprehend a ‘wanted suspect’ linked to a fraud case, faced a violent encounter when they raided a bungalow in Karachi’s Sindhi Muslim Society. Lahore police did not get assistance from the Karachi police which led to this mishap.

The Lahore police team had arrived in Karachi pursuing a suspect allegedly involved in a multi-million Rupee fraud, according to media reports.

Upon arriving in Karachi, the team pinpointed the suspect’s location in the Sindhi Muslim Society. Despite informing the local police station beforehand, the Lahore team initiated the raid on the bungalow.

However, the situation took a turn for the worse when the residents, acting independently, assaulted the police team.

Subsequent to the altercation, the local police intervened, raiding the bungalow and detaining several residents present during the incident.

The injured Punjab Police personnel were promptly transported to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for necessary medical care.

One of the officers, identified as Ijaz, is reported to be in critical condition. The police stated that a case was in the process of being filed against the residents involved in the altercation.
