More offenses
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police included eight more offenses of the Pakistan Penal Code in the FIR against the wife of a civil judge. She tortured a minor maid last week.
Officers of the capital police added section 324 (attempted murder) to the FIR. Police did it after recording the statement of the victim’s father. Police added the statement in the police file through a case diary on July 26.
The police added the remaining seven sections in response to the Medico-Legal Certificate (MLC) issued by the DHQ Teaching Hospital Sargodha.
A police team brought the MLC from Sargodha. Police made it part of the police file through a case diary by adding a supplementary statement on July 29.
The seven sections added are as follows:
- 337-A (i) – Shajjah-i-khalifa: Hurt caused by any weapon on the head or face without exposing the victim’s bone.
- 337-A (ii) – Shajjah-i-mudihah: Hurt caused by any weapon on the head or face, where the bone is exposed but no fracture occurs.
- 337-A (iii) – Shajjah-i-hashmap: Grievous hurt caused by any weapon on the head or face, resulting in the fracture of the victim’s bone without dislocation.
- 337-F (i) – Damihah: Injury in which the skin is ruptured, and bleeding occurs.
- 337-F (v) – Hashimah.
- 337-L (ii) – Punishment for others hurt.
- 334 – Itlaf-Udw: To destroy a limb or organ.
Islamabad police added these sections to the case based on the evidence received through the MLC. Additionally, police officials are also adding section 3 (b) of the Prevention of Trafficking in Person Act 2018 to the case.
Judge’s wife gets interim bail
Meanwhile, Somia Asim, the wife of a judge who tortured a minor maid got an interim bail till August 7. Somia Asim is the main accused in the 14-year-old housemaid Rizwana torture case.
A district and sessions court in Islamabad granted interim bail to the wife of a civil judge.
Additional Sessions Judge Abida Sajjad considered Somia’s plea and granted bail. The accused submitted Rs100,000 worth of surety bonds.
