As geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate, Pakistan’s ODI cricket captain and Multan Sultans skipper, Mohammad Rizwan, has emerged as a unifying voice, delivering a passionate message of resilience, faith, and patriotism.

“This Land Carries the Blood of Martyrs”

Posting from his official X (formerly Twitter) account, @iMRizwanPak, Rizwan reflected on Pakistan’s enduring fight against terrorism, highlighting the country’s long history of sacrifice and struggle.

“This land carries the blood of martyrs. We have grown up with the sound of bullets and blasts.”
He emphasized that Pakistanis love martyrdom in the same way others love life.

“Do Not Oppress, and Do Not Accept Oppression”

Rooted in Islamic principles, Rizwan’s post quoted lessons from the Holy Quran, asserting that while Pakistan doesn’t believe in initiating war, it also doesn’t believe in backing down:

“We’ve learned from the Quran not to start war—but if one is imposed on us, never retreat.”
He closed his tweet with a defiant call to “Be brave. Have faith. Do not oppress, and do not accept oppression.”
The hashtags #PeaceForAll and #PakistanZindabad capped off a message that quickly went viral across platforms.

PSL Future in Question Amid Security Concerns

Rizwan’s message comes as uncertainty surrounds the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Security threats and regional instability have raised concerns about potential postponements or cancellations of fixtures. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Ministry of Interior are currently reviewing the situation.

His remarks are being hailed as timely and morale-boosting, not just for fans of cricket, but for a nation navigating an increasingly volatile moment.

Tensions Escalate Following April Attack in Kashmir

The backdrop to Rizwan’s statement is the deadly April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which left 26 dead. India quickly pointed fingers at Pakistan-based groups, though no concrete evidence was provided. Islamabad rejected the accusations, calling them baseless and politically motivated.

India’s reaction was swift and punitive:

  • Wagah border closure (April 23)
  • Suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty
  • Visa cancellations for Pakistani nationals

In retaliation, Pakistan also closed the Wagah crossing and declared any disruption to water flow as an “act of war.”

Explosions and Cross-Border Strikes Rock Pakistan

On May 6 and 7, explosions rocked multiple Pakistani cities, including Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Muridke, and Bahawalpur. Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson for Pakistan’s military (ISPR), confirmed Indian airstrikes had targeted six locations.

In response, Pakistan launched immediate air and ground operations, reportedly:

  • Downing five Indian fighter jets, including four Rafales
  • Striking multiple military posts across the Line of Control (LoC)

Lt Gen Chaudhry claimed Pakistan had the capability to down ten jets, but opted for restraint.

“Pakistan chose to exercise strategic patience,” he said.

Indian Losses Downplayed by Media, Experts React

Notably, Indian media outlets—under apparent pressure—removed early reports acknowledging the loss of jets. One CNN analyst noted that if confirmed, the loss of Rafale jets would be a “critical blow to India’s air dominance narrative.”

A French intelligence source later told CNN that one Rafale jet was indeed downed, marking the first combat loss of this aircraft globally.

Israeli-Made Harop Drones Shot Down by Pakistan

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s military confirmed the neutralization of 25 Harop drones—Israel-manufactured unmanned systems used by India in recent operations. The ISPR described them as a “panicked and desperate measure” by India, following its setbacks along the LoC.

These drones were intercepted using both soft-kill and hard-kill systems, with debris recovered from across Pakistan.

A Voice for Unity in Crisis

In these tense times, Rizwan’s calm but powerful message has resonated across the political and cultural spectrum. While political leaders issue strategic warnings and military responses unfold, it is Rizwan’s spiritual and patriotic message that has united millions under the banner of peace, dignity, and resilience.
