ISLAMABAD: Famous leaders like Nawaz Sharif, Moulana Fazlur Rahman, Mahmood Khan, Ameer Muqaam, ANP’s Aimal Wali Khan and Haider Hoti faced a stunning defeat in the election for National Assembly seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to initial and unofficial results, in the KP province, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, JUI-F chief Moulana Fazlur Rahman, Ameer Haider Hoti of ANP and Mehmood Khan (former PTI chief minister in KP) and PML-N leader Ameer Muqaam were defeated by their rivals.
ANP leader Aimal Wali Khan, son of late Wali Khan, was also defeated in KP by a PTI-supported candidate on Thursday.
TV channels reported their defeat in the National Assembly election on Thursday, citing unofficial results.
According to detail, in a surprising turn of events during the 2024 general elections, Nawaz Sharif, the prime ministerial candidate and leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), faced a significant defeat against independent candidate Shahzada Gastasap in NA-15 Mansehra. Shahzada Gastasap secured victory with 74,713 votes, while Mian Nawaz Sharif garnered only 63,054 votes in Mensehra.
This unexpected outcome marks a major upset in the electoral landscape, raising questions about the prevailing political dynamics in Mansehra.
Nawaz Sharif, however, defeated PTI-backed independent leader Yasmin Rashid in NA-130 constituency in Lahore.
As the electoral process unfolds, the defeat in Mansehra adds an element of uncertainty to Nawaz Sharif’s political journey and underscores the unpredictability of the ongoing elections.
Meanwhile, Former KP chief minister Mahmood Khan on Friday faced an upset against independent candidate Muhammad Naeem in PK-10. Naeem emerged victorious with 21681 votes.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) leader Khattak could only amass 10537 votes.
PTI-P Chairman Pervez Khattak and his two sons and son-in-law also faced the biggest political upset.
Independent candidate Mian Muhammad Umar had clinched victory against Khattak with 38384 votes in PK-88. Khattak could only collect 9009 votes.
Moreover, Khattak’s son-in-law, Ali Khattak, had also been defeated in PK-89.
Khattak’s sons, Ismail Khattak and Ibrahim Khattak, also faced defeat from PK-85 and PK-86, respectively.
