Eyad Al-Bozom, the spokesperson for the Hamas Interior Ministry, expressed grave concern about over 1000 Palestinians who are currently trapped beneath the rubble in Gaza.
He issued a warning, highlighting the looming threats of both a humanitarian crisis and environmental consequences.
The situation in Gaza has further deteriorated due to Israel’s enforcement of a comprehensive blockade. This blockade has been put in place to prevent the delivery of essential supplies such as food and fuel to the 2.3 million residents, a significant number of whom rely on aid.
This action was initiated as a response to a surprise offensive by Hamas on October 7, which resulted in the tragic loss of 1,300 Israeli lives.
Following this devastating attack, Israel initiated an intense bombing campaign on the Gaza Strip. It caused widespread destruction in neighborhoods, claiming the lives of over 2,750 people, primarily civilians.
Additionally, this campaign has left 9,700 individuals wounded, as reported by the enclave’s health ministry.
On a separate note, there have been denials from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office regarding reports of a ceasefire in Gaza.
Such a ceasefire, if realized, could potentially allow the entry of aid and the safe evacuation of foreign nationals, despite the conflict with Hamas having persisted for ten days.
Meanwhile, the United Nations (UN) has declared that more than one million people have faced displacement due to the sustained Israeli bombardment in the Gaza Strip over the past week. Experts have labeled the situation in this besieged area an ‘unprecedented human catastrophe.’

Meanwhile, members of the UN Security Council engaged in challenging discussions concerning a potential resolution. Two drafts, one from Russia and another from Brazil, are currently under negotiation, according to diplomats.
Russia circulated a draft on Friday, calling for an “immediate, durable, and fully respected humanitarian ceasefire.” This draft also calls for “unimpeded” humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, which has already been subjected to a years-long Israeli blockade. The Russian proposal strongly condemns all violence and hostilities against civilians and all acts of terrorism.
