ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Karachi resident Javeria Khanum made her way to India through the Wagah border to wed her Indian fiancé Sameer Khan, as reported by India Today.
Their union had been delayed for five years due to Covid-19 restrictions and subsequent visa challenges.
Upon her arrival, Khanum was warmly greeted by Khan and his family, accompanied by lively beats of ‘dhol’.
Despite facing two visa rejections, Khanum has now been granted a limited 45-day visa, bringing immense joy to both. The couple shared during a brief interaction with reporters at the border that their marriage is scheduled for January next year.
“I’ve received a 45-day visa. It’s wonderful to be here. The love and warmth I’ve felt upon arrival are overwhelming. We’ll be tying the knot in the first week of January,” expressed Khanum.
Speaking about their families, Khanum mentioned that her family in Pakistan was elated about their forthcoming union. “It’s unbelievable to finally get the visa after five years,” she added.
Sameer Khan, her fiancé, reminisced about how it all began in May 2018 when, back from his studies in Germany, he noticed Javeria’s photo on his mother’s phone. “I immediately expressed my interest and told my mother that I wanted to marry Javeria,” he recalled.
