Pakistan’s COAS Field Marshal Visits Egypt to Strengthen Defence Collaboration

Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, travelled to Egypt for a landmark visit aimed at bolstering defence and military cooperation between the two nations. During his official engagements, he held high-level meetings with Egypt’s Minister of Defence & Defence Production and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. The discussions centered on mutual interests, the regional security environment, and deepening bilateral defence collaboration.

Describing Egypt as a “brotherly country,” he affirmed that enhanced cooperation would benefit both nations and contribute to wider peace and stability in the region. On arrival at the Egyptian Ministry of Defence, he was received with full military honours and laid wreaths at the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier and the grave of former President Mohamed Anwar Al‑Sadat—symbolising shared respect and historical ties.

In a significant inter-faith engagement, the COAS met with the Grand Imam of Al Azhar University, discussing challenges facing the Muslim Ummah and underscoring the need to eradicate extremist ideologies and distorted interpretations of Islam. This dimension of the visit reflects a combined focus on security, cultural-religious cohesion, and regional influence.

The visit marks a new chapter in Pakistan-Egypt relations by merging strategic defence alignment with efforts for ideological unity and stability. The strengthened partnership signals both countries’ intent to coordinate more closely—not only in military terms but in supporting broader regional peace.
