Seventh Straight Increase in Fuel Prices
The federal government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) for the seventh consecutive time, according to a notification. Petrol has been increased by Rs4.10 per litre, while diesel has risen by Rs6.41 per litre.
Following the updated rates, petrol will now cost Rs384.34 per litre, while HSD will be sold at Rs415.83 per litre.
The updated prices of both petrol and diesel are being approved by the federal government following an updated notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The new prices will be implemented with immediate effect from 12:00 AM tonight onward.

Petrol has climbed by approximately Rs25.57 per litre since September 8, while diesel has increased by Rs34.06 per litre over the same period. The government continues to charge Rs114 per litre in taxes on petrol and Rs100 per litre in taxes and duties on diesel.
Fuel Price Context
The relentless hikes are driven by surging global oil prices amid the ongoing US-Iran conflict, with Brent crude trading above $100 per barrel and concerns mounting over disruptions to supply routes through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb.
The government previously announced a Rs100 per litre petrol subsidy for motorcyclists, rickshaw users, and small car owners to cushion the impact of rising fuel costs, with registration having opened through an SMS-based system.
