Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday issued a show-cause notice to its party member, Sher Afzal Marwat, following his allegations against the former chairman, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. The notice demanded Marwat to issue an apology within two days, warning that failure to provide a satisfactory response would lead to disciplinary action in accordance with the party’s policies.
The statement from PTI highlighted the unrest triggered by Marwat’s comments, stating, “A tense situation has arisen due to your statement.”
Marwat had previously asserted that Barrister Gohar Khan was dismissed from his position as chairman of PTI due to his “unsatisfactory” performance. This accusation surfaced shortly after Khan announced Barrister Ali Zafar as the nominee for the next chairman of PTI, with internal elections slated for March 3.

In a discussion with Geo News, Marwat cited “incompetence and poor performance” as the reasons for Khan’s removal, adding, “Barrister Gohar is a gentleman but his performance was not up to the mark.” He further critiqued Khan’s inability to fulfill party workers’ expectations and his lack of active engagement in managing party affairs. Marwat concluded by expressing disappointment in the party leadership’s post-election strategy, particularly criticizing Khan’s lack of leadership.
