Islamabad, 12 May, 2025: Digital Cattle Market reforms are reshaping Punjab’s approach to livestock trade as the provincial government rolls out an online bidding platform for leasing cattle markets.
Aimed at improving transparency and efficiency, the initiative overseen by the Punjab Cattle Market Management and Development Company (PCMMDC) will manage all 112 officially registered cattle markets across the province.
Authorities stated that the launch of this Digital Cattle Market system comes at a crucial time, with Eidul Azha drawing near a season known for surging demand in cattle trade.
Through the new online platform, contractors can submit their bids remotely, replacing outdated manual methods that previously slowed down the leasing process and allowed space for irregularities.

The e-auction setup also incorporates digital payment options to simplify the bidding and registration process for all participants.
According to officials, contractor registration for the auction began earlier this week and will remain active until May 13.
The electronic bidding process will open on May 21 at 9 a.m. and close on May 23 at 6 p.m. All registration fees, security deposits, and dues will be processed online.
Final auction results, bid details, and allotment certificates will also be digitally issued, further reinforcing the system’s integrity.
Government representatives indicated that this move is part of a broader push to digitise local governance and reduce corruption in public service delivery.

The Digital Cattle Market platform, they said, is expected to become a cornerstone for improving transparency and financial accountability in municipal operations.
In a parallel development aimed at enhancing public infrastructure, Punjab’s Secretary for Local Government, Shakeel Ahmed Mian, recently opened a new Waste Management Training Centre at the Lahore Waste Management Company’s Thokar workshop.
Officials said this facility will help build capacity in urban sanitation and promote environmental sustainability across the province.
The launch of the Digital Cattle Market system is widely seen as a model for future e-governance tools, offering a more accessible, fair, and technology-driven approach to managing public assets.
