ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation this evening with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio amid escalating tensions in South Asia.
During the call, the Prime Minister conveyed Pakistan’s unequivocal condemnation of recent missile and drone strikes launched by India, which have resulted in the deaths of 31 civilians and left 57 others injured.
He also highlighted the damage inflicted on civilian infrastructure, describing the attacks as a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“These acts have dangerously undermined peace and stability in the region,” the Prime Minister said, expressing deep concern over the consequences of such unprovoked aggression.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to safeguard its sovereignty and national borders under all circumstances.
Emphasizing the serious public outrage within Pakistan, the Prime Minister reiterated that the country reserved the right to exercise self-defense as enshrined in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.

Prime Minister Sharif also acknowledged and appreciated President Trump’s attention to the deteriorating security environment in South Asia and his concern over the unfolding situation.
Secretary Rubio, for his part, stated that the United States was monitoring the situation closely.
He underscored Washington’s continued commitment to regional peace and stability, and stressed the importance of both Pakistan and India exercising restraint and engaging in constructive dialogue to de-escalate tensions.
