Weather alert issued for AJK after hailstorm

ISLAMABAD: The weather experts issued an alert for AJK after hailstorm in the area.

On Monday, weather office warned the tourists from accessing the Azad Jammu Kashmir area in the bad weather.

Bad weather, according to experts, may prevail for another couple of days.

Meanwhile, hailstorm badly damaged orchards and fields in the AJK territory.

Temperature has also dropped after a snowfall in Neelum Valley.

Further, the weather experts expected a dry weather in most plain parts of Pakistan. Rain-wind/thunderstorm are expected in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas this week.

Interestingly, the city of Chitral, situated at the foothold of Hindukush mountain range, received a rare snowfall in May. The snowfall blanketed mountain tops, giving a pleasant look to the tourists and locals.

Meanwhile, Upper and Lower Chitral areas also received snowfall as a result of which the temperature dropped considerably there.

Swat valley and Lower Dir also received hailstorm and damaged the crops. The hailstorm put challenging situation for vehicular traffic.
