Zhob attackers

ISLAMABAD: During the recent attack in Balochistan’s Zhob area, the Zhob attackers (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants) utilized weaponry abandoned by the United States in Afghanistan.

A clearance operation was subsequently conducted in northern Balochistan, resulting in the elimination of five terrorists and the unfortunate martyrdom of nine soldiers from the Pakistan Army.

TTP militants carrying heavy weapons to attack security forces in Pakistan. In Zhob attack, militants used American weapons and uniforms.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the deaths of the terrorists while acknowledging the sacrifice of the security personnel in the exchange of gunfire.

The TTP militants, disguising themselves in uniforms, helmets, and hand gloves resembling those of US soldiers, were armed with modern US weapons, including M16 Assault Rifles.

Disturbing images from the Zhob clearance operation depict the deceased terrorists clad in US soldier uniforms.

The utilization of US weapons by the TTP militants has raised significant concerns regarding how these sophisticated weapons, uniforms, and other supplies found their way into the hands of the TTP.

Pakistan has witnessed an increase in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the termination of the ceasefire between the banned TTP and the government in November of the previous year.

Army commanders voice concern against TTP’s safe havens in afghanistan

The top commanders of the Pakistan Army believe that sanctuaries and liberty of action available to TTP’s proscribed terrorists and other groups of that ilk in Afghanistan is one of the major reasons impacting the security of Pakistan.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated this in a statement issued after the 258th Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) in Rawalpindi. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir chaired the meeting held on Monday.

The participants if the Corps Commanders Conference were briefed in detail about the prevailing Internal security environment. They paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifices of the valiant soldiers in the defence of their motherland against the threat of terrorism, the ISPR added.

“Objective training remains the hallmark of our professionalism and we must always remain prepared to guard against any threat to our national security,” the ISPR quoted Gen Munir as saying.

A week ago, the Pakistan Army expressed a serious concern about the TTP’s safe havens in Afghanistan. Army also threatened to take an “effective response” two days after 12 of its soldiers embraced martyrdom in two attacks.
