New Fuel Rates Effective from Midnight

The federal government has updated petroleum prices under the revised daily fuel pricing mechanism, with the new rates coming into effect from midnight, according to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

Price Adjustments

  • Petrol has been increased by Rs1.63 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs335.81 per litre
  • High-speed diesel has been raised by Rs1.55 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs388.38 per litre

Volatile Global Markets Drive Revision

The government stated that it would continue revising petrol and diesel prices on a daily basis as international oil markets remain volatile amid ongoing global developments, including tensions between the United States and Iran.

Daily Pricing Mechanism

The latest revision comes under Pakistan’s daily fuel pricing mechanism, which was introduced to allow more responsive adjustments to global oil price fluctuations and exchange rate movements. The revised prices will remain in force until the next review.

Impact on Consumers

The consecutive increases in fuel prices are expected to add to inflationary pressures, particularly affecting transportation costs and the prices of essential goods. Diesel, which is widely used in transport and agriculture, has now crossed the Rs388 mark.
