Caretaker Balochistan Information Minister Jan Achakzai has accused the bureaucracy of neglecting the interim setup, causing difficulties for the resource-rich yet underdeveloped province. Speaking in Quetta on Friday, Achakzai expressed concern about the law and order situation and economic decisions under the Special Investment Facilitation Council. He attributed most challenges to bureaucratic hurdles, stating that the interim government’s vision, led by army chief General Asim Munir, faced obstacles.
Achakzai emphasized the need for strict punishment for those abetting terrorist activities, attributing people’s issues to the incompetence of Balochistan’s bureaucracy. He lamented the lack of importance given to the interim provincial setup as per constitutional requirements, leading to severe criticism of the caretaker government.
The interim information minister claimed that, unlike other provinces, Balochistan faced delays in development projects, with a perception that billions of rupees worth of projects might not be completed on time. He criticized the non-compliance with the caretaker prime minister’s instructions and the delay in initiating an inquiry into alleged corruption related to funds for Balochistan.
Achakzai highlighted concerns about misgovernance and criticized ministers facing criticism for their duties. He reported that around 400,000 illegal immigrants had left the country, expressing concerns about the inadequate support for returning refugees by the interim Afghan government. Achakzai appealed for the rehabilitation of these refugees.
