KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: Sarfraz Bugti, the newly elected chief minister of Balochistan, has reiterated his call for Baloch separatists to renounce violence and return to their communities. He has promised that his administration will offer full amnesty to all militants who lay down their arms.

Speaking on Sunday during a conversation with journalists after paying respects at the mausoleum of the Father of the Nation in Karachi, Bugti extended an invitation to those who have taken refuge in the mountains to come back. He declared a general amnesty for those willing to return from their hideouts.

Bugti emphasized the high regard the people of Balochistan hold for Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, underscoring the significance of his visit to the mausoleum after assuming office as the chief minister of Balochistan.

Acknowledging the ongoing challenge of maintaining peace and security in Balochistan, Bugti praised the earnest efforts of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in addressing the province’s issues.

Despite his affiliation with the PPP, Bugti condemned Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s statement about people losing faith in the newly elected parliament, noting the consistent electoral success of Rehman’s party in Balochistan.

Bugti also addressed the recent heavy rains in Gwadar, assuring that the government is actively working to alleviate the damage caused. He deployed the chief secretary to oversee relief efforts and pledged to clear all accumulated water in the city by the following day.

During a previous visit to Gwadar, Bugti directed the administration to continue rescue and rehabilitation operations for affected individuals and expedite drainage efforts. He commended the swift response of authorities to the unprecedented rainfall and instructed them to persist until normalcy is restored in the area.
