Eight school teachers were gunned down in Parachinar a day ahead of the visit of China’s foreign minister Mr Gang
PARACHINAR/ISLAMABAD: Unknown assailants shot dead eight teachers of government schools in Parachinar on Thursday afternoon.
The tragic assassination of school teachers occurred just a day before the visit of China’s foreign minister Mr Qin Gang to Pakistan. Mr Gang is arriving in Islamabad on Friday on a two-day visit.
According to police, outlaws gunned down seven school teachers in the staff room of the Tarimangal High School. Another school teacher was shot dead in another attack in Parachinar.
The teachers were performing their exam duties at the school when the terrorists shot them dead.
In another incident in Parachinar, in Upper Kurram, terrorists shot dead a teacher when they attacked a moving vehicle. The number of school-teacher casualties increased to eight in a day.
The incidents of firing on school teachers occurred in the Parachinar district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Bodies of the teachers were shifted to the hospitals for autopsy while the administration declared an emergency in hospitals after the tragic incidents of firing on school teachers.
President of Pakistan Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and political leaders strongly condemned the assassination of teachers in Parachinar.
All the teachers were supervising the matric examinations in schools.
Condemnations
President Dr Arif Alvi said that the enemies of education attacked the teachers. Dr Alvi asked the concerned authorities to hold the culprits accountable for this gruesome incident.
Meanwhile, former president and co-chairman of PPP Asif Ali Zardari expressed grief over the killing of the teachers.
He said, “Killing of teachers on duty is terrorism that will not be tolerated.”
“Criminals involved in the killing of teachers should be brought to justice,” Zardari said as he prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased.
