Trip to China

ISLAMABAD: Jalil Abbas Jilani, the Caretaker Foreign Minister, is scheduled to embark on a two-day official trip to China starting Wednesday. He will participate in the third Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation in Nyingchi city, China.

His trip to China comes as a result of a special invitation his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, extended to Jilani.

The Trans-Himalaya Forum, initiated in 2018, aims to foster practical collaboration among countries in the region. It focuses on various areas such as geographical connectivity, environmental conservation, ecological preservation, and the enhancement of cultural ties.

The most recent in-person meeting of the Forum took place in 2019. This year’s Forum theme is centered around “Ecological Civilization and Environmental Protection.”

During his stay in Tibet, Foreign Minister Jilani will deliver an address at the opening ceremony of the Trans-Himalaya Forum.

Additionally, he is scheduled to engage with several prominent regional figures, including the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, the Chinese Foreign Minister, and the Interim Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, on the sidelines of the event.
