Karachi June 2, 2025: In a decisive move to regulate the growing number of unauthorised cattle markets in Karachi, Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has intensified action, especially in District East, to curb the setup of illegal bakra mandis ahead of Eid.
Key Developments:
- Over 41 illegal cattle markets dismantled in District East.
- A total of 51 FIRs registered and 137 individuals arrested for violations.
- In just the last 48 hours, authorities targeted 22 new illegal markets, resulting in:
- 21 more FIRs
- 63 arrests
- 17 animals seized
- The operation addresses serious issues including:
- Traffic jams
- Poor sanitation
- Public health hazards
Commissioner’s Statement:
Commissioner Naqvi emphasized that these unauthorised animal markets not only disrupt city life but also pose a threat to public safety. He reaffirmed that:
“The campaign against illegal markets will continue in the coming days without any leniency.”
Ensure only officially approved bakra mandis are allowed to operate in Karachi during the Eid season to maintain order, cleanliness, and safety.
