Court Orders Halt to Result Declaration

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has barred the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from announcing the results of its recent recruitment examinations until further orders.

Justice Muhammad Azam Khan issued the directive while hearing a petition filed by Yasir Arafat challenging the recruitment process. The court has also issued notices to the FIA and other respondents, seeking their replies on the matter.

Petitioner’s Allegations

During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel, Advocate Afrasiab Ahmed Rana, argued that the recruitment test conducted by the FIA included questions that were outside the prescribed syllabus. The counsel further informed the court that the petitioner had already submitted written representations to the FIA on July 16 and 17, but no decision had been taken on them.

The FIA initiated recruitment tests for Executive posts on July 9, 2026, while tests for Ministerial posts began on July 13, 2026. The hiring process was launched after the agency announced 1,394 vacancies across Pakistan in April 2026.

Court Directives

The IHC directed the FIA to withhold the announcement of recruitment exam results until a final decision is reached on the petition. In its written order, the court clarified that it had made no observations on the merits of the case.

The court further directed the FIA to provide the petitioner an opportunity of being heard and pass a detailed, reasoned order on his representations before proceeding with the recruitment results.

The court later adjourned the hearing, with the matter set to be taken up again after the FIA submits its reply.
