Barrister Gohar Distances PTI from Controversial Remarks
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has clarified that the statement made by Noorain Niazi regarding “Markah-e-Haq” does not represent the party’s policy and reflects only her personal views .
Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar said that according to his information, Noorain Niazi’s interview was around three months old, adding that controversial statements should not be aired on mainstream media . He stated that Noorain Niazi does not hold any political or organisational position in PTI, and her personal statements should not be presented as official party positions .
Pakistan’s Victory in Markah-e-Haq
Barrister Gohar said Pakistan’s victory in Markah-e-Haq was a blessing from Allah Almighty, which was witnessed by the entire world, and every Pakistani takes pride in the achievement . He added that the enemy now knows that the entire nation stands with the Pakistan Army .
He emphasized that Pakistan’s defence remains strong and no enemy can defeat the country, adding that a single statement would not weaken the nation’s defence .
Concerns Over Meetings with Imran Khan
Expressing concern over the issue of meetings with PTI founder Imran Khan, Barrister Gohar said permission for meetings had repeatedly been denied on grounds of security risks and other reasons . He said that despite the passage of 280 days, a meeting with Imran Khan had still not been allowed .
Boycott of Judicial Commission and Parliamentary Committees
Barrister Gohar announced that PTI would continue its boycott of judicial commission meetings and parliamentary standing committee sessions until permission for meetings with Imran Khan is granted .
He stated: “We will continue our boycott until we are granted access to meet Imran Khan” . The party had previously decided to stay away from Judicial Commission meetings as they were already boycotting committee meetings, with a final decision about participation only possible after consultations with Imran Khan .
Appeal for National Unity
The PTI chairman urged all sides to avoid reopening old issues and instead focus on easing political tensions . He stressed that the country could achieve development and stability only after eliminating terrorism and called for putting aside personal interests for national stability .
