KARACHI: Pakistan’s tallest building, an 82-storey tower named Burj-e-Quaid, will be constructed in DHA City Karachi after a formal agreement was signed between the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and ABS Developers, officials said.

Project Overview

The project, planned over nearly six acres of land in DHA City Karachi, aims to feature modern architectural design and is expected to be completed within six years, according to details shared by the developers. The tower is expected to become the country’s tallest building upon completion, surpassing existing high-rises in the city.

Regulatory Clearance Secured

Officials said that Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority has also issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the project, clearing a key regulatory hurdle for the high-rise development. The CAA’s approval is mandatory for tall structures in Karachi due to the city’s proximity to Jinnah International Airport’s flight paths.

Strategic Significance

The development marks a significant milestone for DHA City Karachi, a suburban residential and commercial project located on the outskirts of the metropolis. The Burj-e-Quaid is expected to become a landmark symbol for the city, similar to how the Burj Khalifa represents Dubai.

The tower’s name pays homage to Pakistan’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah (Quaid-e-Azam), reflecting national pride and architectural ambition. The six-year construction timeline suggests the project will involve multiple phases, including foundation work, structural development, and finishing.

Economic and Real Estate Impact

Real estate analysts view the project as a potential catalyst for further development in DHA City Karachi, which has been positioned as a modern suburban alternative to the congested central city. The tower could attract commercial tenants, luxury residential buyers, and hospitality operators, boosting property values in the surrounding area.

The partnership between DHA, a well-established housing authority, and ABS Developers brings together institutional backing and private-sector execution capabilities. Further details regarding the tower’s height in meters, number of residential and commercial floors, and estimated construction cost have not yet been disclosed by the developers.
