According to the Karachi police, “false news” is being propagated by society’s “enemies” on social media about a female employee who was supposedly gang-raped by her coworkers at denim manufacturing giant Artistic Milliners in Korangi, Karachi.
Outrage over the alleged gang rape spread quickly on social media on Wednesday. According to other stories, the employee in question may have even passed away.
The Korangi SSP, however, claimed that after an investigation by SDPO Korangi, it was discovered that the claims were made in an effort to harm the name of Artistic Milliners by a phony Facebook channel called “Dhoom Plus.”
The Korangi SSP said in a letter to the secretary-general of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, “It was an attempt to tarnish the reputation of the company by Sagir Buledi press reporter and member of Sindh Sajagi Labour Federation, who is operating phony Dhoom plus channel on Facebook” (KATI).
