A widespread recall affecting thousands of gallons of salad dressings and condiments has been announced by Oklahoma health officials. The Oklahoma County Health Department confirmed the recall involves products made by Ventura Foods LLC that were distributed to grocery stores and food service providers nationwide.

The FDA has labeled the recall as a Class II action, citing the possible presence of black plastic planting material in the affected products. While the contamination is not expected to cause long-term harm, officials say it could result in temporary or medically reversible health issues if consumed.

The recalled dressings were sent to restaurants, cafeterias, delis, and retail locations in 27 states, including Oklahoma. Authorities are advising businesses and consumers to check labels and product codes carefully.

The recall includes a wide variety of products, such as Italian Salad Dressing, Creamy Poblano Avocado Ranch Dressing and Dip, Pepper Mill Caesar Dressings, Ventura Caesar Dressing sold in bulk, and Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch. Certain Caesar dressing items supplied to Costco service delis and food courts are also affected.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled dressings should not consume them under any circumstances. Instead, the products should be thrown away or returned for a refund. Officials emphasized that no illnesses have been reported so far, and the recall is strictly precautionary.
