At just 14 years and 272 days old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has announced himself on the senior domestic stage in extraordinary fashion. On the opening day of the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy, India’s premier 50-over domestic competition, the teenage prodigy shattered multiple records to etch his name into cricket history.

Representing Bihar against Arunachal Pradesh in Ranchi, Sooryavanshi became the youngest centurion in men’s List A cricket, reaching the milestone in only his seventh appearance in the format. What followed was an innings that pushed the boundaries of what seemed possible at senior level—especially for someone not yet 15.

The left-hander brought up his maiden one-day hundred in a blistering 36 balls before accelerating even further. He reached 150 off just 59 deliveries, the fastest 150 ever recorded in men’s List A cricket. By the time his innings ended, Sooryavanshi had smashed 190 runs off 84 balls, laced with 16 fours and 15 sixes, leaving spectators and statisticians alike stunned.

This remarkable knock is the latest highlight in a breakthrough year for the young batter, who has been dominating age-group cricket long before making waves in the senior ranks. Already a familiar name in India’s youth setup, Sooryavanshi is firmly in contention for India’s ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 campaign, scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe and Namibia from January 15.

He recently showcased his class at the Under-19 Asia Cup in the UAE, where he finished as the fourth-highest run-scorer of the tournament. In five innings, he piled up 261 runs at a staggering strike rate of 182.51, underlining his aggressive yet controlled approach. One of his standout performances was a breathtaking 171 off 95 balls, which left him just six runs short of Ambati Rayudu’s long-standing India youth one-day record.

Sooryavanshi’s rise to mainstream attention accelerated earlier this year during the Indian Premier League 2025. Playing for Rajasthan Royals, he became the youngest player ever to score a century in IPL history, hammering 101 off just 38 balls against a seasoned Gujarat Titans bowling attack. The innings showcased not only fearless strokeplay but also an ability to dominate elite-level bowlers.

Across seven IPL matches, the teenager amassed 252 runs at an extraordinary strike rate of 206.55, further reinforcing his reputation as a rare talent capable of thriving under pressure and against top-quality opposition.

His momentum has continued on overseas youth tours as well. On recent tours of England and Australia, Sooryavanshi consistently delivered standout performances, with the England series proving particularly productive. There, he accumulated 355 runs at a strike rate of 174.01, once again displaying remarkable consistency and power.

Across 15 youth ODIs, Sooryavanshi now boasts an impressive average of 51.13, with two centuries and three half-centuries, striking at an imposing rate of 158.79. These numbers underline both his maturity and his attacking instincts at a very young age.

Still only 14, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is already rewriting record books across formats and levels. As India heads into a crucial World Cup year at the Under-19 level, he stands out as one of the most exciting young batters in world cricket—and a central figure in India’s quest for youth glory.
