Islamabad, Feb 18: Xiaomi is set to unveil its second electric vehicle, the YU7 SUV, in mid-2025, following the success of its first EV, the SU7. Designed to compete in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle (EV) market, the YU7 aims to rival models like Tesla’s Model Y, boasting impressive performance, advanced technology, and a sleek design.

The YU7 will offer two distinct configurations: a single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) version. The RWD variant features a 315 horsepower (HP) motor, while the AWD version pairs a 295 HP front motor with a 386 HP rear motor, together producing a total of 681 HP. The AWD variant has a top speed of 253 km/h, while the RWD model reaches 240 km/h, making both options a thrilling driving experience.

In terms of battery performance, the YU7 will offer different options depending on the model. The AWD version is equipped with a 101.7 kWh battery pack, delivering an estimated range of 670 to 760 km, based on configuration. The RWD model, with its 96.3 kWh battery, offers a range of 725 to 820 km. However, it’s essential to note that while the range figures are based on the CLTC testing cycle, real-world driving conditions may result in shorter ranges.

The YU7’s dimensions place it in the mid-to-large SUV category. With a length of 4,999 mm, width of 1,996 mm, and height of 1,600 mm, along with a 3,000 mm wheelbase, the YU7 offers ample interior space. This size puts it between the Tesla Model X and Model Y in terms of both size and cabin space, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a blend of comfort and performance. Xiaomi is also expected to incorporate their signature design philosophy, focusing on modern aesthetics and user-friendly functionality.

Tech enthusiasts will appreciate the advanced features of the YU7, including a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, designed to enhance autonomous driving capabilities and safety. The interior is set to impress with a futuristic cockpit, featuring an ultra-wide infotainment display for a seamless driving experience.

While official pricing remains unconfirmed, estimates suggest that the YU7 could start at around 250,000 Yuan (approximately $34,700 or Rs. 96 lac), positioning it as a competitive offering in the electric SUV segment. With a mix of style, performance, and cutting-edge technology, the YU7 promises to make a strong impact in the EV market.
